Magnolia extract is composed of 49% of the pharmacologically active components magnolol and honokiol, and gently extracted from tree bark utilizing CO2 extraction.

The magnolia extract is an essential remedy drawn from traditional Chinese medicine thanks to its potent antimicrobial, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

From a dermatological perspective, this extract is impressive because it works very effectively against attack-causing germs, without irritating the skin.  

Owing to the high antioxidant activity of magnolia extract - many times higher than that of alpha-tocopherol – it is capable of preventing the formation of oxidation products, e.g., by UV irradiation, to neutralize and thus avoid skin damage, which in turn accelerates skin aging.

These remarkable properties can also be used to "stabilize" formulations.

In fats and oils, it acts as a booster - similar to the vitamin C palmitate - to prolong the effects of mixed tocopherols (such as vegetable vitamin E) and thus the shelf life of the fat/oil.

The magnolia extract shows a strong action against bacteria, yeasts and fungi - even at low concentrations and independent of pH.
