Belinal®, revolutionary new anti-age plant extract:
Belinal® Is a Silver Fir (Abies alba) Branch Extract
Only the branches from trees grown in the pristine European mountain forest are manually selected and prepared for producing the Belinal® extraction.
The wood and branches used are strictly sourced from regular felling only, and no trees are cut to produce the extract. This material would otherwise have ended up as waste and left to rot.
This way the highest quality of silver fir material, with knowledge of its origin, is achieved.
BELINAL® - ABIES ALBA MILL.
The Silver fir branch extract, Belinal®, has various physiological effects, among which the primary is antioxidant effect.
There are 36 different ingredients in Belinal®, mainly polyphenols.
Belinal® contains three main types of polyphenols, with a total value of approximately 70%.
These are:
flavonoids,
phenolic acids (about 30% in total), and
lignans (about 40%).
FLAVONOIDS IN BELINAL® - CATECHIN AND EPICATECHIN
The flavonoids in Belinal® extract are from the group of procyanidins - catechin (Figure 1) and epicatechin (Figure 2), which act as antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, protecting the heart and blood vessels.

NONFLAVONOIDS IN BELINAL® - PHENOLIC ACIDS AND LIGNANS
Phenolic acids
The major phenolic acids in Belinal® extract are:
Para-coumaric acid
which is a cinnamic acid derivative,
Protocatechuic acid
which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties,
Gallic acid is a simple phenolic acid with one aromatic ring.
It has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer and antimicrobial properties
Lignans
Lignans are among the most effective natural antioxidants and biocides. Their primary function is the chemical defense of the tree against the invasion of microorganisms, and they can also participate in the regulation of growth.
Lignans account for about 40% of Belinal® extract, with lariciresinol and its derivatives being the largest. This type of lignan is highly specific to Belinal®.
Lariciresinol
Graph shows that Belinal® has a higher antioxidant activity than Resveratrol, two times higher than vitamin E, and almost four times higher than green tea extract.
In this comparative study of different antioxidants, Silver fir branch extract (October 2014 series), resveratrol, a water-soluble form of vitamin E: d-alpha-tocopheryl succinate and epigallocatechin gallate, a polyphenol found in green tea were used.
Standards
Silver fir branch extract has been approved in the EU and was published in the Novel Food Catalog in July 2017 by the EFSA.
Belinal® has self-affirmed GRAS, and the extract is recognized as safe by qualified experts based on publicly available scientific information.
Belinal® meets the highest EU standards:
Standard composition: HPLC monitoring
Stability test: 5-year shelf life
Ecocert Cosmos certificate
Free from GMO and allergens
Complies with EC standards
All production processes are environmentally friendly, and only pure water is used during the extraction process. Belinal® is naturally certified by Ecocert Cosmos attestation no. 590442.
R&D, Quality and Safety
Belinal® is backed by proprietary scientific research, clinical studies and published articles.
The Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Ljubljana has been conducting research on silver fir extract for 15 years, with some of the best scientists and researchers working on the project.
The standard composition of Belinal® is characterized by specific lignans. HPLC and spectrophotometry is used to identify and quantify the compounds.
