DEFENSIL® is a skin-conditioning agent that normalizes sensitive skin by immediately soothing irritated, inflamed and red skin with long-lasting, constant action with three active components. Cardiospermum harmonizes and protects irritated skin and is effective against itchy and allergic inflammation. The stearidonic acid present in echium oil protects and strengthens the skin barrier and has an inflammation inhibitory effect. The unsaponified parts of the sunflower oil provide phytosterole, tocopherole and squale. This product is suitable for emulsions, gels and lotions.

The vast majority of people describe their skin as sensitive or extremely sensitive. The skin is irritated by a variety of external stimuli. Temperature changes, wind, physical and chemical effects, and sunlight all contribute to irritation. The skin is subjected to a variety of stressors and is rarely at rest these days. Although the skin is normally fairly resilient, all of the irritants cause it to become progressively sensitized or even injured. DEFENSIL®, the active substance, has set new benchmarks in the distinctive and effective care of sensitive skin.

DEFENSIL® is a mix of three extracts from natural source:

Cardiospermum is a climbing plant which originally stems from the tropics. Its name came about because of a white heart- shaped mark on the seed. In pharmacy it is well known to be effective against skin disturbance. This is attributed to the high proportions of phytosteroles and triterp- ens, whose anti-inflammatory properties are especially interesting

Echium oil is very rich in stearidonic acid, an essential omega-3 fatty acid which is known for its anti-inflammatory property. The stearidonic acid effectively inhibits the 5-Lipoxygenase emzyme and thus re- tards the inflammatory mechanism. The equally high proportion of 7 % – 12 % gamma-linoleic acid is also responsible for the optimum protection of the skin barrier, as unsaturated fatty acids regen- erate the intercellular cement of the epi- dermis.

Sunflower Unsaponifiables Due to their composition, which is characterised by a high proportion of sterols, the unsaponifiable elements of the sunflower oil have a particularly soothing effect on the skin. The notable presence of natural vitamin E and squalene in the unsaponifiable element of the sunflower oil are of equal importance in the regeneration and care of the skin.
